Our recent stay at the Posthotel Alexander Herrmann in Wirsberg was an unforgettable blend of comfort, culinary artistry, and immersive experiences. As I am originally from Franconia, I am incredibly proud to have such a world-class gem so close to my hometown.

Behind-the-Scenes Tour & Anima – A Culinary Laboratory
Before our highly anticipated dinner, we had the opportunity to take part in the „Behind the Scenes“ tour, which offered a rare glimpse into the meticulous operations of the hotel’s Michelin-starred kitchen. The tour starts at 5 pm and lasts around 1h. Afterwards, we were directly welcomed at the AURA restaurant. One of the most fascinating aspects of the tour was our visit to Anima, the innovative research and development space that serves as the creative heart of the restaurant.

At Anima, chefs experiment with flavors, textures, and techniques to push the boundaries of fine dining. We saw firsthand how new dishes are conceptualized, tested, and perfected before making it onto the menu. The space embodies a true passion for culinary innovation, where every detail is carefully analyzed to ensure a harmonious balance of flavors. This behind-the-scenes experience made us appreciate our upcoming meal even more, knowing the dedication and creativity involved in its creation.

A Stunning Dinner at Restaurant AURA
The highlight of our stay was, without a doubt, our dinner at Restaurant AURA by Alexander Herrmann & Tobias Bätz, a two Michelin-starred culinary haven. We had the pleasure of trying both the regular tasting menu and the vegetarian 7-course menu with wine pairing – each a testament to the chefs‘ ingenuity and craftsmanship.

The regular menu was an extraordinary journey of flavors, showcasing innovative interpretations of regional ingredients, each plate presented with elegance and precision. Every dish was not only visually stunning but also an explosion of balanced flavors, with wine pairings that enhanced each course beautifully.

The vegetarian menu was equally breathtaking, proving that plant-based fine dining can be just as bold, complex, and satisfying as its traditional counterpart. The creativity behind each dish highlighted the versatility of vegetables, turning them into luxurious, flavorful masterpieces.

A Sanctuary of Sleep & Relaxation
Our room at Posthotel Alexander Herrmann was more than just a place to rest it was a Power Sleeping Room®, designed to provide the ultimate sleep experience. The hotel takes sleep seriously, recognizing that true relaxation extends beyond a welcoming atmosphere and beautifully furnished spaces.

To ensure the highest level of sleep quality, the hotel partnered with SAMINA, an expert in sleep health, to create these oases of rest. Each of the 40 Power Sleeping Rooms® is equipped with SAMINA beds, crafted from exclusively natural materials and designed according to bioenergetic principles. This thoughtful integration of sleep science into the guest experience perfectly complements the hotel’s holistic approach to well-being, especially in combination with its world-class culinary concepts.

A unique feature of these rooms is the pillow minibar, offering a selection of SAMINA pillows tailored for every sleep style – whether you prefer sleeping on your stomach, side, or back. Finding the perfect pillow was a small but impactful luxury, and for those who fall in love with their choice, the hotel offers the option to purchase a pillow directly at reception to bring the experience home.
Beyond our restful nights, the hotel’s natural stone spa area, complete with saunas and a swimming pool, provided the perfect setting to unwind and recharge.
A Culinary Farewell at Oma & Enkel – The Perfect Morning After a Michelin-Starred Evening

As we prepared to leave Posthotel Alexander Herrmann, we weren’t quite ready to step away from the culinary magic we had experienced the night before. Our two-Michelin-star dinner had been an exquisite journey of flavors, creativity, and precision—one of those meals that lingers in your memory long after the last bite. It only felt right to extend the experience with one final indulgence: breakfast at Oma & Enkel.

Nestled in the heart of the hotel, Oma & Enkel felt like the perfect contrast to the refined elegance of the evening before—warm, unpretentious, yet still deeply rooted in the same philosophy of exceptional ingredients and thoughtful craftsmanship. The name, meaning Grandma & Grandchild, hints at nostalgia and comfort, and that’s exactly what we found.
The morning began with the gentle hum of coffee machines and the inviting scent of freshly baked bread. We took our time, sipping on perfectly brewed cappuccinos as we savored flaky croissants, house-made jams, and a selection of regional cheeses. The simplicity of the meal was its beauty – each ingredient allowed to shine, just as in the fine dining experience we had the night before, but in a way that felt like a warm culinary embrace. For my mum and me, this breakfast was more than just a meal – it was a soft landing after an extraordinary night, a way to hold onto the magic just a little longer before stepping back into the real world and driving back home.

Impeccable Service
From the moment we arrived, the staff’s warmth and professionalism stood out. Every interaction – from check-in to the attentiveness during our dinner – was marked by a genuine passion for hospitality.
